About the Designer

Growing up in Metro Detroit, Wanda Lau spent countless hours in the local library devouring books almost as fast she devoured markers to sketch underwater environments on the back sides of calendar pages. Her first stationery design—for her own wedding—was selected as an Editor’s Choice by Brides magazine and published. With that boost of confidence and a 750-lbs. machine, she delved into the art of letterpress printing, which frequently keeps her up past dawn.

In her day job, she’s an editor at several award-winning commercial design magazines, including ARCHITECT. Her writing has has appeared in Men’s Health, Urban Land, University Business, and School Construction News.

Photography: Who doesn’t love it? After learning and continuing to learn from the best, she has shot weddings, exhibited portraits, and been published in a number of magazines, including Design New Jersey and O, The Oprah Magazine (a contrib’s photo, but still—Oprah!). Her D700 and 50mm f/1.4 lens are her go-tos. A photography website is in the works!
